Mani Organic Kalamata Olives wins the Great Taste Awards

Kalamata Olives in Olive Oil achieved the highest accolade of 3-stars! Out of almost 15,000 entries, less than 2% achieved this prestigious award.

Here are the judge’s comments:

"There is a rich, fruity aroma to these olives from the extra virgin olive oil, which carries through onto the palate. The olives are plump and glisten in the oil with a lovely smooth skin and moistness to the fruit. The fruitiness of the olive explodes in the mouth and leaves a coating of the olive oil that gives a longevity to the mouthfeel.”

“We were immediately impressed with these glossy olives that were sitting in gloriously glowing oil. The texture was beautifully meaty and the skins were tight but the olives burst with flavour. The olives themselves were slightly sweet and gently salty and the flesh just fell off the stone. They're Greek summer in a jar; we loved them a lot.”

“The initial aroma is well balanced with both the olive and EVOO offering up their flavours. On biting there is a pleasing medium soft resistance. The taste is well balanced between a softly vegetal olive oil and a gentle but pleasantly fresh, fruity taste of the olive. There is no lingering bitterness and the chew resolves into a creamy mouthfeel. The colouring of the olive is visually attractive, varying between a rich deep purple and soft mauve.”

“These dark olives look beautiful in their slightly greenish-yellow oil home. The aromas are salty and mouth-watering. The flavours are really fruity, with a sweetness which grows as you chew and a salt level which delivers really nicely."
