Fighting for food justice, supporting the hard-working hands of organic farmers and producers, and advocating for the balance of food and nature – these have all been part of Phil’s mission and his passion for over 40 years. These topics could not be more relevant today, with global calls and campaigns to Build Back Better coming to the fore in the wake of the pandemic.

In his first ever book—filled with fascinating stories, tempting recipes and helpful tips—Phil takes us on a journey of good food, from soil to plate.

Food For Thought explores a completely unique and personal perspective on food, farming and the natural world, with contributions from highly-regarded food experts and green campaigners. Phil proposes key pillars for building a just world, and empowers readers, consumers and entrepreneurs alike to take the lead on our sustainability journeys, and regain sovereignty over our food systems.

As a lifelong campaigner, pioneer and champion of sustainable food in Bristol and beyond, Phil’s enthusiasm will open your eyes, make you think, bring on a smile and reconnect you with the joys of food, the wonders of nature, and what it really means to eat well and live better on our incredible planet.

It is clear we are facing the biggest challenge in the history of our species and the way we nourish ourselves is central to the solution. We will undoubtedly make better choices by taking a holistic approach to designing a food system from the soil up, not the plate down.
